Your mediation course should be submitted to the Mississippi Commission on CLE for accreditation. The application process calls for information about the sponsoring organization and the program, including the course schedule, subjects, requested CLE hours and requested ethics hours. A Uniform Application for Approval of Continuing Legal Education is used for course accreditation.
How Mississippi calculates credit
Mississippi uses a 60-minute CLE credit hour. The total instructional minutes are divided by 60, with credit calculated to the nearest one-tenth of an hour.
Online training
Mississippi permits distance-learning CLE, but this deserves particular attention for your program. Current published guidance states that attorneys can receive up to six CLE hours per reporting period through live webcast or previously recorded/distance-learning programming. The Mississippi Bar also states that no attorney may claim more than six hours through satellite-transmitted or electronically recorded/reproduced material, even when presented by an accredited sponsor. Approved for 18 Hours
